A regulatory 3rd party audit is now known as an Evaluation or Verifcation. Checks include assessments of a system conducted by an independent evaluator or verifier. These can include Food Control Plan Evaluations, Food Control Plan Verfications and National Programme Verifications. All Third party Evaluators and Verifiers including our team at The Food Auditor are responsible for assessing a (food safety) system for conformance to government legislation and regulations.
During an Evaluation or Verification we determine compliance with the law as well as checking that written procedures match actual practices, e.g. are you ‘doing what you say’?
The majority of exempt New Zealand businesses are verifed against the Ministry for Primary Industries Food Control Plan requirements.
